The education system in China: In China, the government introduces the nine years compulsory education, which means that students have the responsibilities to attend school for 9 years. Students start school at 6 or 7 years old, and they have to attend primary school for 6 years, when they graduate from the primary school, they have to continue to attend middle school which need them three years to graduate. When students graduate from middle school, they have the option that they can either continue studying or working. If middle school graduated students’ final low, they can go to private high school, polytechnic school or 5-year- College to continue their study. Otherwise, they can go to high schools to study. For those who graduate from high school, they can attend university if they reach their favorite universities ‘enrollment mark. Otherwise they may go to the 3-year-college to continue study. For some people who have already worked, they can also continue their study by self-taught examination to get their qualitification from universities. The postgraduates in China usually have to study for 3 years, and students who want to get the Doctor’s degree have to study another 3 years or more. In China, all students have 2 terms and two holidays which are summer holiday and winter holiday a year.
The education system in UK:Education in UK is free for all children between 5 years old and 16 years old. Children start primary school at 5-yea-old,they graduate from primary school at 11.Students then have to attend secondary school to study for another 3 years. They graduate from secondary schools in 16-year-old.After graduate from secondary schools, 2/3 students work, and the other 1/3 students continue their studies. For those who want to continue study, they have to accept the further education, they can choose academic route to study to extend their academic knowledge, and they can also choose the vocational route to study in order to apply their potential skills. After students finish their further education, they can then continue their higher education to gain their Bachelor’s degree, which is usually a 3 year programme.After getting the Bachelor’s degree, students could go on to study one year of postgraduate to gain their Master’s degree. And after that they can continue to learn 3 years for their Doctor’s degree. In UK, all students have 3 terms a year, but their holidays between the terms are short.
