The Senedd is also called National Assembly building, houses the debating chamber and three committee rooms for the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff ,it was opened on 1 March 2006 by Queen Elizabeth II,it is not only the building for Members, but also for our common people.I love the design of the wood ceiling,I think it like the waves of the sea.All of us thought it was gorgious and magnificient, the building has three floors, and the worker said that the first and second floors are accessible is to the public and the ground floor is a private area for officials,we watched the short movie which was only prepared for us in the meeting room on the second floor,I asked the worker who guide us what is sustainable building,he told me that the building we were visiting is a green building,it used welsh wood materials , minimal energy consumption and the use of renewable technologies ,it is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. This practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort.
We like the debating chamber most.It The debating chamber is the hub of the Assembly building.it is a place where ministers have meetings, the glass wall is transparent, during their meeting, everyone of us can d and listen,we can question the ministers and we als could see how they debate to each other. The minister just sit in the middle of golden desk, and other ministers who are in charge of education, economy, politics, health, ect sit with circling him.
There are full of arts in the building, for example ,let's look at the acoustic panels. The artist Martin Richman was appointed to work on adding colour to the new building. The project focuses on the architect's widespread use of fabric-covered acoustic absorption panels throughout the building. The artist has worked on approximately 270 out of the 600 or so panels throughout the building. The artist worked on a room by room basis, the panels working as a complete set to create a specific look for each room. The panels are dyed and painted; Martin Richman also worked closely with the architects to select a base colour for the remaining panels.
